The stepfather of a young Woodbridge boy who accidentally shot and killed himself last month has been arrested and charged with cruelty and injuries to children.
Police say Jasmine Darnell Matthews, 27, left a loaded handgun in an unlocked family pickup truck. Four-year-old Kyrell Kyyon McNeill found the gun and accidentally shot himself in the head.
The child was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The accident happened on June 25th in the 14800 block of Empire Street in Woodbridge.
Matthews was released on a $20,000 unsecured bond.
