Leo Johnson was shot in the arm last week by a gunman who authorities say didn't like the politics of the Washington-based conservative lobbying group.

Johnson was working security in the building's lobby and helped subdue the gunman after he was shot. Johnson says in a statement released by the FRC Friday that he's likely to need another surgery.

He also sends out thanks for the prayers and support he's received and asks for privacy.

The accused gunman, 28-year-old Floyd Lee Corkins, faces an assault charge and handgun charges that carry the possibility of decades in prison.
