Police seek to identify man on child sex charges in Northwest
D.C. police want the public's help to keep a suspected child predator behind bars.
Police say it appears the same man may have tried to pick up underage boys on several occasions, three of them happening just this week.
On Wednesday they arrested a 68-year-old white man they suspect of stalking a boy in the 4800 block of 36th Street NW, a popular place for children who often play behind Murch Elementary School.
Police say his focus seems to be boys nine to 11.
He was arrested on an unrelated warrant, unlawful entry. They haven't charged him in any child sex cases, but they want to.
"If they community has any information about anything that is remotely similar we'd like to know about it," says MPD Assistant Chief Peter Newsham.
Police believe the same man might have been involved in four incidents in various Northwest neighborhoods, including the American University Park area, Wilson High School Aquatic Center locker room, and at Murch Elementary.
No one has been charged in these incidents, but police believe the man they arrested Wednesday was involved in each of them.
