Redskins to hold moment of silence for Officer Adrian Morris
BELTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Police in Prince George's County say the Washington Redskins will hold a moment of silence to honor a police officer killed in a crash while pursuing a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Beltsville.
Police officer Adrian Morris died Monday in the crash which happened on southbound I-95 near the Powder Mill Road exit.
Two officers were pursuing a vehicle that matched the description of a car involved in a theft.
Police say the driver lost control of the police cruiser and it ran off the highway into a ditch.
The Redskins play the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, and a moment of silence will be observed before the game.
Flags in Maryland are also flying at half-staff in honor of the 23-year-old Morris.
A funeral for Morris will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Woodstream Church in Mitchellville. Burial will take place about 1 p.m. at Lakemount Memorial Park Cemetery in Davidsonville.
