Rodney Sparks charged with selling spoiled, uninspected meat
August 9, 2012 - 08:59 am
A Frederick County man has been charged with selling meat he found in a Virginia garbage can in his store, the Gazette reports.
Police say that Rodney Sparks, a Monrovia resident, was indicted on 10 counts of offering "adulterated and misbranded meat for sale" after authorities say they discovered the misbranded and uninspected meat being sold a Front Royal store he owned and operated.
In fact, employees at one Food Lion in Northern Virginia told the Gazette that they had witnessed Sparks dumpster diving and removing food from the waste receptacle.
Sparks is currently out on bail but faces at least a year in prison if convicted.
