Sameplate.com pairs dates and food
First dates and food often go hand-in-hand.
A new dating website called sameplate.com is focused on fueling that connection by pairing people who like and dislike the same foods or are on the same diets, from Atkins to vegan.
There's no cost to use the site. Besides narrowing your search by a specific diet, you can also narrow it by dietary restrictions like gluten-free and lactose-intolerant.
Elliot Davis and Heather Guith recently met on the site and are on their first date at the Blue Duck Tavern. Both are on the Paleo diet.
Though there aren't many D.C. users on the site yet, they say the concept makes sense and they hope it will grow.
“I feel like if you have food in common you probably have so many other things in common,” Guith says.
They admit sharing a diet isn't the only factor in finding love. But this time, it opened the door and they say a second date is possible.
“We definitely eat alike so that makes it easy to pick a place,” Guith says.
