Sgt. Ryan Jeschke of Herndon killed in Afghanistan
A Marine from Herndon was killed in combat in Afghanistan on Friday, the Department of Defense reports.
The Marine is identified as Gunnery Sgt. Ryan Jeschke, 31, of Herndon, Va. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Jeschke was one of three Marines killed in the incident. Also slain were Capt. Matthew P. Manoukian, 29, of Los Altos Hills, Calif., and Staff Sgt. Sky R. Mote, 27, of El Dorado, Calif.
The Pentagon says the three Marines were killed while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
