Police are looking for Shavon Phillips, 22, who was last seen on Monday, July 30 leaving from a daycare center in the 400 block of 61st Street in Northeast D.C.

A woman's body was found inside a duffel bag in a creek in Ft. Washington the next day, but police say no connection has been made and the body remains unidentified.

Her family says Phillips had just finished nursing school and had a new job lined up. They say she adored her 2-year-old daughter, so it made no sense to them when Phillips dropped off her daughter at daycare Monday morning and never returned.

A video of Phillips at the daycare at 7 a.m. is the last time she was seen. Police were called when she failed to pick up her daughter that evening.

Police sources say they consider Phillips a critical missing person and they are following up leads that she went with a man to buy a car at a local auction.

The day after Phillips disappeared, sources say her apartment on Fitch Street was broken into and ransacked. Her neighbors are worried.

Sources confirm Prince George's County detectives are looking at Phillips missing case, but have not yet identified the body.

The discovery is almost too much to bear for Phillips' family.

While they wait for DNA to come in, family members say they can only wait and pray.

Police hope to have the body identified by Monday.

Phillips is described as a black female with a medium complexion. She is 5’6” tall, weighing 120 pounds and has blonde and black hair, usually worn in a ponytail. Phillips was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
