Stuck accelerator causes wild ride in Missouri
Troopers in Missouri made an amazing rescue after a driver’s accelerator got stuck – causing her Kia Sorento to reach speeds of up to 110 miles per hour.
For half an hour, Lori Ulvestad dodged in and out of traffic, at times veering off the road to avoid crashing. She say she noticed a problem when her SUV wouldn’t slow down or stop.
She called 911 in a panic and that’s when the Missouri Highway Patrol caught up with her. One patrol car managed to get in front of the car, one followed behind as to avoid collisions with other drivers.
After reaching Iowa, one of the troopers crawled into Ulvestad’s window and put the SUV into park. The Kia travelled 60 miles in just 30 minutes. No one was injured.
Kia Motors says the accelerator issue seems to be an isolated problem.
