SUV hits 8-year-old boy in Fairfax County
August 28, 2012 - 09:29 pm
A 8-year-old boy is recovering at a local hospital after being hit by an SUV.
Lucy Caldwell, a spokeswoman with Fairfax County Police, said the child was riding his bike near Old Mt. Vernon Highway and Surrey Road Tuesday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., the child rode into the street, and the driver of the SUV was unable to avoid him. Caldwell says the child was struck and dragged for several feet. His injuries are non-life-threatening.
He was flown to Fairfax Hospital.
Police are crediting the boy's helmet with saving his life.
