A Fort Washington man has been arrested in connection with the Monday morning shooting death of an 18-year-old man in Temple Hills, Prince George's County Police say, but authorities are still trying to figure out exactly what happened to lead to the shooting.

Prince George's County Police officials say that 18-year-old Darrell Sales of Fort Washington has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Anthony Boatwright, an 18-year-old Northeast D.C. man.

The alleged robbery and shooting happened just after midnight in the 5000 block of Temple Hill Road at about 12:15 a.m., when officers found Boatwright dead of a gunshot wound. Sales was found nearby and was quickly detained. However, the circumstances surrounding what led to the shooting remain murky.

Law enforcement sources tell ABC 7 News that the alleged victim and his friends had just left the Plaza 23 Event Center, an embattled county night club, on St. Barnabas Road.

According to sources, the suspect allegedly approached four young men as they walked down Temple Hill Road. The victims claim that the suspect demanded the shoes of one young man, and when he resisted, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot and killed the victim.

However, sources also say that it wasn't the only shooting violence to take place in the area or near the nightclub late Sunday night into Monday. Sources say that about two hours before the fatal shooting, another man was grazed by a bullet during a dispute inside Plaza 23.

In an uncharacteristic scene hours after the shooting, police led Sales, clad in handcuffs and a white paper jumpsuit, around the crime scene in search of answers.

Police continue to investigate the entire incident.
