Wednesday night, Shavon Phillips' family and friends gathered to remember their loved one's life

Police identified the 22-year-old's body Monday. Until this week's identification, Phillips' family held out hope the mother of two would be found alive.

Her family says Phillips had just completed nursing school, landed a new job and was buying a new car when she went missing July 30.

Jeromeka Chappelle was one of several people who spoke during the candlelight vigil, recalling a story of Phillips' generosity after Chappelle's kids lost their clothes in a fire.

"She bought my daughter two outfits and my son a pair of pants and put a $100 dollar in his pocket, so I could get him something else," Chappelle said.

Police are looking into claims that Phillips met with a man about buying a car after dropping off her 2-year-old daughter last Monday morning. A day later, her apartment was found ransacked.

So far, no arrests have been made.
