A man who fled the United States after being arrested on charges of having sex with children more than a decade ago has been caught in Mexico, authorities say.

Wesley Thomason, who lived in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County at the time of the alleged assault, was arrested on Nov. 21, 2000 for allegedly providing drugs to minors and filming himself engaging in sexual acts with more than one child. Before his court date, though, Thomason fled the county.

On July 20, nearly 12 years after his arrest, Thomason, 39, was located and arrested by Mexican authorities south of the border. He was originally sent to California, but about a week and a half later, he was processed into the Fairfax County jail.

He is facing charges of carnal knowledge, manufacturing sexually explicit material involving a minor, possession of cocaine and indecent liberties.

Fairfax County Police are still trying to track down information about other potential victims. Authorities also want to know how Thomason fled and eluded capture for more than a decade. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers or police at (703) 691-2131.
