Fairfax county Police say a 19-year-old woman was walking alone in the 7600 block of Lee Highway when a man with a knife forced her into some nearby bushes and sexually assaulted her Sunday night.

Women who walk or take the bus in the area were troubled by news of the sexual assault.

"We are new here and everybody told us don't worry because we usually go out together," said one woman.

Businesses line the side of the street where there are sidewalks. And workers say it is dimly lit. And that there are often men loitering in the shadows.

"They need more police presence ... video cameras and I don't know what they can do about people standing around or sitting around,” said one person.
