Alexandria's King's Jewelry target of second theft in two months
An Old Town Alexandria jewelry store was the target of a major theft in broad daylight Thursday morning for the second time in the past two months, police say.
Alexandria Police officials say that at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, two armed men entered King's Jewelery, in the 600 block of King Street, and proceeded to smash jewelry cases and grab merchandise. The suspects then fled the scene.
Thursday's larceny came about a month and a half after a Washington man, Cedric William Earles, allegedly walked out of the Alexandria store with a $25,000 platinum diamond ring on July 24. He was arrested on Aug. 30 at his D.C. home.
Both cases were classified as grand larceny, rather than robbery, because there was no force involved in either of the thefts.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Alexandria Police.
