American Cancer Society fights to keep federal funding
The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event connects hundreds of survivors from Washington, D.C. and beyond.
Wednesday, the group gathered for a luncheon in preparation for this year's D.C. fundraiser, which is part of a nationwide cause. Now in its 20th year, its collected more than $350 million for breast cancer research.
At the federal level, with more talk of balancing budgets, those gathered at the luncheon worried about cuts in federal funding. After all, the U.S. government is the largest contributor to cancer research.
Watch Mike Conneen's report on how these women plan to fight to keep funding.
