Belle Haven Marina standoff ends in arrest
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - Police say a 44-year-old man is in custody after a standoff with police at the Belle Haven Marina in Alexandria.
Police were called to the scene Friday evening for a report of shots fired. When police arrived, the gunman, identified by investigators as John Watson of Northern Va., jumped into a dingy and made his way out to a sailboat anchored in the Potomac River.
Police evacuated the marina and spent several hours trying to make contact with Watson.
Watson was later taken into custody without incident. Police have not said what led to the shooting. There were no reports of injury.
Watson will be arraigned Monday for assault charges.
