Charles Moore Jr. guilty of trying to kill officer
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - A Howard County man faces the possibility of life in prison after he was convicted in a retrial of trying to kill a Frederick police officer and another man.
The Frederick News-Post reports that a Frederick County jury found 28-year-old Charles Moore Jr. guilty Thursday of attempted second-degree murder of Sgt. Wayne Trapp and attempted first-degree murder of Romell Allen.
Allen was wounded in the 2005 shooting outside a nightclub. Moore denied on the witness stand Thursday that he fired at the men. But Trapp testified Tuesday he had no doubt that it was Moore who shot at him.
Moore's 2006 conviction was overturned on issues related to jury selection. A second trial in 2011 ended in a hung jury. His sentencing is set for Nov. 15.
