D.C. boards and commissions to be streamlined
September 21, 2012 - 10:27 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray says he's looking into getting rid of certain boards and commissions.
The district's Office of Boards and Commissions announced Friday that it's accepting public comments on a plan to abolish some of the more than 200 boards, commissions, committees and task forces.
The staff will then recommend whether any boards can and should be eliminated.
Gray says the plan is part of a broader effort to streamline government and make it more efficient.
