Fuse Pilates sues anonymous yelp.com reviewers
Fuse Pilates in Dupont Circle is suing anonymous reviewers on Yelp, the popular online site that helps people find local businesses and posts individual reviews.
Yelp reports it has more than 30 million reviews on the site worldwide.
And the reviews can help or hurt a business, users say.
After Fuse Pilates received three bad reviews in two days on an otherwise stellar list of customer feedback, they decided to sue.
According to the court documents, three unidentified alleged customers posted reviews on yelp.com stating the studio "smelled like mildew," "was very expensive," and "the staff was unfriendly."
Fuse filed a civil lawsuit against John Doe for publishing false and defamatory/libelous statements on the Internet, for intentionally trying to harm the business, and arguing the reviews lead to a loss of clientele and reputation.
