AAA: HOT lanes to shorten commuting times
September 5, 2012 - 05:09 am
AAA predicts the Washington region will soon be off the top ten list of worst commutes in the nation.
The agency says the two big HOT lane projects in Northern Virginia along the Capital Beltway and Interstate 95 could significantly shorten the time drivers spend on the road.
The HOT lanes on the Beltway are set to open in December 2012, and construction along I-95 is scheduled to wrap up in 2015.
Once completed, drivers in the toll lanes should be able to commute from Stafford County to Tyson’s Corner in Fairfax County traveling at the speed limit.
