iOS 6 release date: New mobile operating system released Wednesday
Another big day for Apple fanatics has come - on Thursday, Apple will release iOS 6, its latest operating system for mobile devices.
The newest iteration of the wildly popular iPhone, which has been dubbed the iPhone 5, will not be available until Friday. Apple is already incredibly backordered for the new phone, but the devices will also be available in Apple Stores and by wireless providers nationwide on Friday.
However, Thursday marks the day that iOS 6 will be released to those who already have compatible devices.
According to bostinno.com, iOS 6 will be compatible with a litany of Apple devices, including each iPhone from the 3GS model and beyond, both the iPad 2 and the New iPad and the 4th generation of the iPod Touch.
iOS 6 features a long list of new features, according to Gizmodo. The new features include, among others, the ability to use FaceTime over 3G and 4G wireless networks, Apple's newly-designed map system and Facebook integration.
The release of the new operating system was expected Thursday afternoon. You can read more about the new features that iOS 6 will have at bostinno.com and Gizmodo.
