At the Georgetown Apple Store, customers started lining up Thursday afternoon, spending the night in a line that snaked around the store.

“The reason that I'm here and the reason anybody else is here is we really love technology,” noted Eric Breese, the first customer to make it into the store. “The way technology changes the world and changes our lives, and this is the best way to be part of that change.”

For those who have had time to explore their new iPhone, it’s getting good reviews. But the new Apple Map App is not and the company says it’s addressing those issues.

The iPhone 5 is thinner, lighter, has a taller screen, faster processor, updated software and can work on faster "fourth generation" mobile networks.

Apple received 2 million orders in the first 24 hours of announcing its release date, more than twice the number for the iPhone 4S in the same period when that phone launched a year ago. Analysts have estimated Apple will ship as many as 10 million of the new iPhones by the end of September.
