Alexandria trail jogger attacked near Duke Street
A 38-year-old Alexandria woman says she was attacked early Wednesday morning on a popular city jogging and bike trail, police say.
Alexandria Police officials say the woman was jogging on a bike path near Holmes Run Parkway, just off of the 4800 block of Duke Street, around 6 a.m. when she was grabbed behind by a man.
The victim told Alexandria Police she passed a Hispanic man as she jogged on trial. At some point, the male began following her and grabbed her from behind, police say. The victim screamed and pushed the suspect, who then ran off and was last seen walking on the bike path toward Van Dorn Street.
Police say the victim was not injured.
Alexandria Police investigators are searching for the suspect, who is described as a medium to dark-skinned man, standing 5-foot-6 and wearing a dark jacket at the time of the attack.
