Joseph L. Bell gets 30 years for distributing child porn in Louisa County

A former military intelligence analyst convicted of distributing child pornography in Louisa County has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

During a search warrant, authorities seized over 400 pictures and videos of suspected child pornography from a Louisa County home, where Joseph L. Bell was staying along with a family, including three kids.

“The ICAC officers found hundreds of images of young boys and girls on Bell's computer and he gained access to young children. He inappropriately touched one of them but he won't touch another child again," said Louisa Commonwealth's Attorney Rusty McGuire.

Bell, who previously worked as a government contractor with a top security clearance, moved to Louisa County in 2011.

In addiiton to serving time, Bell has been ordered to pay $18,000 in mandatory restitution. 

The Louisa County Sheriff's office, the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted with this investigation.
