Today’s sit-down in front of the pop-culture tube finds a familiar face making her debut, details about a secret wedding, many other items of note, and the mystery music video.

KATIE’S BACK: Will she inherit a certain throne?, per the New York Times, “The premiere included teasers of her pressing Heidi Klum about her divorce battle with Seal, an interview that will run in full on Wednesday’s show. But on Monday, Ms. Couric tried to prove to her audience that she is one of them. She showed a family photo that included her husband, who died of cancer in 1998. Her two daughters and her mother were in the audience; at the end she brought up her three friends from junior high school in Arlington, Va. There aren’t too many ways to host a popular daytime talk show; it’s a balance of celebrity guests, pathos and punch lines.” http://nyti.ms/Onxs0C

MEANWHILE: Another take, per the Washington Post, “Katie’s daughters are still young — 16 and 21 — and they were in the audience, as was Katie’s mom. “We lost my dad just a little over a year ago. Oh, and yes — I turned 55 this year,” Katie said to kick things off, looking surprisingly nervous. Not Anderson Cooper-nervous, but still, surprisingly nervous for someone who was the queen of morning infotainment TV for 15 years, and who recently looked totally in her element subbing for Robin Roberts on ABC’s infotainment series “Good Morning America” a few weeks back.” http://wapo.st/SARG98

THE WEDDING: Of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, per E!, “Select planners, and even a few media types, knew about this big fat Southern wedding weeks ago—not always the case when two movie stars tie the knot. According to sources, those people just happened to be very, very good at keeping their mouths shut. Or, more likely, Lively's attorneys hit them with non-disclosure agreements so thick they could double as Lady Gaga's favorite platform wedges.” http://eonli.ne/P7XO3q

THE ROYALS: On the road, per People, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in Singapore, the first stop on their official tour to Southeast Asia to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. In a nod to her hosts, Kate, 30, wore a pink kimono-style dress with an orchid pattern by British designer Jenny Packham as they arrived Tuesday.” http://bit.ly/RPF1MR

THE BARD: This is quite the shift, per the Los Angeles Times, “When Joss Whedon found himself with two weeks off after completing "The Avengers" last year, he opted not to spend the downtime in a conventional way — on a Hawaiian vacation, for instance. Instead, he decided to make a Shakespeare film. In black and white. At his house. In 12 days.” http://lat.ms/OnynhM

WE’RE NOT TALKING KIM KARDASHIAN: No offense, but . . .per Us Weekly, “Angelina Jolie met with nearly 200 new Syrian refugees near Mafraq, Jordan, overnight September 11, Us Weekly has learned. The actress and UNHCR special envoy was joined by high commissioner for refugees Antonio Guterres and Jordanian foreign minister Nasser Judeh.” http://bit.ly/RHGznP

YO DAWG: per The Hollywood Reporter, “The game of musical chairs at American Idol continues, with Fox pulling the plug on negotiations with Enrique Iglesias to fill a judge's seat, according to a source close to the show. . . Now, Fox, producers FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment are said to have abandoned that scenario in favor of returning (Randy) Jackson to the judges panel. It's not clear what derailed the Iglesias plan, though money always is an issue with talent show judges.” http://bit.ly/RHMSHO

AND THIS: An original checks in, per Entertainment Weekly, “Simon Cowell has good news for American Idol fans who don’t want to see the big dawg hit the road. Cowell tweeted that Randy Jackson will stick around the Fox talent show for another season. “Just heard Randy is back on Idol,” Cowell tweeted to his 3.6 million followers. “Right decision.” http://bit.ly/QCrXJY

REBOUND?: Stay tuned, per Radar, “Is Kristen Stewart moving on with James Franco? The Hollywood A-list pair enjoyed a tete a tete after a chance meeting at the Toronto Film Festival last week, and to say the actor was enamored with Robert Pattinson's ex would be an understatement, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.” http://bit.ly/ODDJkz

GRAMMAR LESSON: Some of you will get it, per Rolling Stone, “Green Day (has) announced North American tour dates for (its) upcoming album trilogy ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! The band kicks off a seven-date initial run November 26th in Seattle, before returning to the road January 7th in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and wrapping up February 8th in Las Vegas.” http://bit.ly/QJIatr

IF THOSE WALLS COULD TALK: Do tell, per The Wrap, “This year, the Beverly Hills Hotel hits the 100-year mark, and not only will it be officially granted landmark status as part of as series of events honoring its centennial, but it also will become the first building in Beverly Hills to receive the honor since the passage in January of the city’s new historic preservation ordinance.” http://bit.ly/RCycPK

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video. http://bit.ly/QaNTvW
