Madonna: 'We have a black Muslim in the White House'
Maybe not all endorsements are good ones, particularly when the facts are not accurate.
During a concert in D.C. Monday night, pop icon Madonna made a pretty major mistake while attempting to endorse President Barack Obama.
"Y'all better vote for f--king Obama, OK? For better or for worse, all right? We have a black Muslim in the White House,” Madonna said, according to The Huffington Post.
"It means there is hope in this country. And Obama is fighting for gay rights, so support the man,” she went on to say.
ABC7 met Carly Shields as she was registering people to vote near Dupont Circle. Shields doesn't believe Madonna thought about the impact her words could have.
"It absolutely shows a lack of knowledge, and it shows a lack of concern for what you're going to say to a whole group of people...as a public figure, it's fairly thoughtless of her," Shields added.
While the star may have made the comments sarcastically, it is widely not being perceived that way. Either way, it is widely known that the president, whose stepfather was a Muslim, is a practicing Christian.
