Man poses as maintenance worker, steals from patients
Police say a man has been posing as a maintenance worker and stealing from patients at doctors’ offices in McLean and Falls Church.
Cancer patients, rehabilitation patients and office employees have all had purses and wallets stolen.
The most recent report was on Sept. 20 in the 8000 block of Arlington Boulevard. Police say a patient placed his belongings into a cubby during his physical therapy. When he returned, his wallet was gone.
Four thefts have been reported on that block with three reported on the 8000 block of Leesburg Pike.
Police say the suspect was seen walking around, looking at vents and acting as though he was on a maintenance call. He’s described to be in his late twenties. He wore blue work pants, a blue shirt and a neon green traffic vest.
Police think the man has been using stolen credit cards at gas stations in the D.C. area.
Anyone with information should call police.
