Matthew Long, grandson of slain Md. couple, arrested in Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A Maryland man wanted in the slayings of his grandparents near Baltimore is hospitalized in Oklahoma City after what police say was an apparent suicide attempt.
A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday that 31-year-old Matthew Charles Long is in fair condition after being brought to the hospital Sept. 11 from Weatherford, Okla., where he was found in a hotel room.
An Oklahoma City police affidavit for a search warrant to take fingernail and blood samples from Long says it appeared Long had overdosed on an undisclosed drug.
Baltimore police issued an arrest warrant for Long after his grandparents, 87-year-old Vaughn George Pepper and 85-year-old Marjorie Marie Pepper, were found dead Sept. 10 in their home in Pikesville.
Police say both victims suffered blunt force trauma.
