Michael Gardner sentencing: Former Falls Church Democratic Committee chair to be sentenced

A former chairman of the Falls Church Democratic Committee will be sentenced Friday on child sex abuse charges.
Michael Gardner, 48, was found guilty in May of molesting two girls, ages 9 and 10 on June 18 at his daughter's birthday slumber party in the basement of their Falls Church home.
An Arlington County jury recommended a 22-year sentence.
Gardner was chairman of the Falls Church City Democratic Committee from 2006 to 2007. His wife serves as a Falls Church councilwoman and is a former mayor of Falls Church.
