Nathan Portnoy due in court on sexual misconduct charges
September 28, 2012 - 05:45 am
Nathan Portnoy, an Iraq war veteran called a hero for trying to save someone’s life during June’s derecho storm, is scheduled to be in court Friday for a preliminary hearing on sexual misconduct charges.
Portnoy was charged with kidnapping and sexual solicitation of a minor after police say he met a 12-year-old girl at a Bethesda park in August.
The night of the derecho the Iraq war veteran performed CPR on Dylan Cooper, a Falls Church teen who was electrocuted in the storm. Despite Portnoy's efforts, Cooper later died.
