NEW MARKET, Md. (AP) - More than 400 fruits and vegetables grown at a Frederick County middle school are being donated to a local food bank.

The Frederick News-Post  reports that squash, tomatoes and cucumbers from the New Market Middle School garden have been given to the Greater Urbana Area Food Bank.

The garden is maintained by students, teachers and a neighborhood volunteer.

It was harvested for the first time this summer. Susan Esworthy, a science teacher at the school, says the group plans to plant pumpkins soon. She says the school also plans to incorporate the garden into its curriculum.
