Olney drowning: 2-year-old boy dies after drowning in pool
A 2-year-old boy drowned in a pool at an Olney home Monday afternoon, fire officials say.
The 34-month-old boy was found in a pool in the backyard of a home in the 17000 block of Sandy Knoll Drive in Olney just before noon, Montgomery County Fire officials said. When first responders arrived at the scene, a neighbor was performing CPR on the child.
The boy was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but officials say he died just before 2 p.m.
Fire officials say that there was a caretaker and another young child at the home at the time of the drowning. It is unknown where that other child was when the drowning happened.
An investigation into the boy's death is ongoing.
