Roberto Ruiz, Falls Church man claims $1M Powerball prize
A Falls Church man has claimed a $1 million Powerball prize.
The Virginia Lottery says Roberto Ruiz matched the first five numbers in the drawing. Ruiz bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven at 201 South Washington Street in Falls Church. He told lottery officials he used the “Easy Pick” and allowed the computer to select the numbers.
Initially, Ruiz glance at his ticket after the winning numbers - 6-27-46-51-56 - were announced, then set it aside - not realizing he had won. Days later, he looked at the ticket again.
"I was in disbelief," he told Virginia lottery officials as he claimed his prize. "I'm not really good at checking my tickets."
Mr. Ruiz told lottery officials he has no immediate plans for the winnings.
