WASHINGTON (AP) - A judge has agreed not to set a sentencing date for a former campaign aide to District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray who pleaded guilty to making illicit payments to another candidate and covering them up.

Thomas Gore was in court Tuesday morning for a status conference. Federal prosecutors asked the judge not to set a sentencing date because their investigation into corruption in district politics is continuing, and Gore's attorney did not object.

Gore will return to court on Dec. 12. Gore is one of three former Gray campaign aides to plead guilty to crimes that occurred during the 2010 campaign, in which Gray defeated incumbent Adrian Fenty.

The investigation has revealed that Gray's victory was aided by $650,000 in illicit funds.
