A woman and a 14-year-old boy died Saturday from injuries received in a Friday night crash when the driver lost control on a curve and crashed into a large tree in Davidsonville, police say.
Anne Arundel County Police found the two critically injured occupants of a 2012 Ford Focus shortly after 10 p.m. Friday in the 3600 block of Patuxent River Road near West Central Avenue (Rt. 214).
The driver was flown by helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and the 14-year-old passenger was flown to Prince George’s Trauma Center.
Carrie Lynn Desmond, 36, the driver, was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. The boy was pronounced dead at approximately 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Both victims were listed as residents of the 1500 block of Themes Drive in Davidsonville.
Crash investigators collected evidence at the scene and determined that the car was traveling south on Patuxent River Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road, left the road and hit a large tree next to the paved surface. The car was significantly damaged, police say.
Police did not say whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Anne Arundel County Police will continue to investigate.
