Yeardley Love's family talks with Katie Couric in exclusive interview
Thursday on Katie, the mother and sister of Yeardley Love, the University of Virginia student murdered by her ex-boyfriend, George Huguely, will sit down with Katie Couric. The two will talk about their painful loss and the prison sentence that keeps Huguely behind bars for 23 years.
The interview comes shortly after Huguely's sentencing.
When Sharon Love is asked if she feels justice has been served for her daughter, she says, "I felt like the jury did their job. I think they took it very seriously. The DA did the best he could and I think the jury did the best they could."
Love, 22, was found face down in a pool of her own blood on May 3, 2010. Prosecutors say Huguely had killed her after the two argued about their recent break-up. Huguely and Love played lacrosse together at the university.
"My heart was beating really fast the whole time," says Lexie Love. "I kept thinking, 'That's what Yeardley saw, that's the last thing she saw,' and I kept running that through my head over and over. Then I would think about the situation that night and it just brought back horrible thoughts."
You can watch Couric's exclusive interview with Sharon and Lexie Love Thursday on "Katie" at 4 p.m.
