Today’s roundup of the ever-so-digital pop-culture world finds Diary of a Wimpy Kid news, Lindsay Lohan and Barbara Walters, the Rolling Stones, many others things, and the mystery music video.

DOUBLE SHOT: Of an e-diary and a new release, per the New York Times, “The personal journals of young Greg Heffley, the not-entirely-wimpy protagonist of Jeff Kinney’s best-selling “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” book series, are getting an electronic upgrade. The Amulet Books imprint of Abrams said on Monday that it would release the first six volumes of the illustrated “Wimpy Kid” novels in e-book – or is that wimp-e-book – format on Oct. 30, leading up to the simultaneous hardcover and electronic publication of a new seventh book, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel,” on Nov. 13.” http://nyti.ms/OBIJcQ

BOX-OFFICE REPORT: The big guns do their job, per The Hollywood Reporter, “Liam Neeson’s Taken 2 kicked its way back into the top slot for a second weekend with an estimated $22.5 million, and Ben Affleck’s political thriller Argo and the Ethan Hawke horror flick Sinister were close second and third, respectively. The one-two-three punch helped boost the box office to a fabulous 47 percent gain over the same weekend in 2011, when Real Steel slugged its way to a second No. 1 finish.” http://bit.ly/V17UJP

A TRUE VIEW?: Count on it, per E!, “Wondering what's been going on with Lindsay Lohan lately? You might get some answers soon. E! News confirms that the troubled star will be having a special sit-down interview with the one and only Barbara Walters. And you know you can always count on Barbara to get down to the nitty-gritty.” http://eonli.ne/PxyNm6

HERE TODAY: And gone tomorrow, per People, “Even vampires need to re-evaluate their love lives. Just ask Twilight star Ashley Greene. "I'm always here and there – everyone in my industry is – and that's why a lot of relationships are fleeting," the actress, 25, tells Marie Claire in its November cover story, on newsstands Oct. 23.” http://bit.ly/TmLa07

LOCAL CONNECTION: Our own version of Kim Kardashian, per the Washington Post, “Engaged: Michaele Salahi, 47, and Neal Schon, 58, after — what else? — an onstage proposal in Baltimore Sunday night. It all went down during Journey’s concert at the Lyric, a fundraiser for John Hopkins Hospital’s Kimmel Cancer Center. Midway through, the veteran guitarist pulled his ladylove from the wings (she’d earlier officiated at a pre-concert fashion show) and dropped to one knee.” http://wapo.st/XdDYaz

POLITICAL STATEMENT: Gov. Mitt won’t like it, per the Huffington Post, “Actresses Eva Longoria, Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington star in a new ad that highlights Mitt Romney's positions on women's health issues and criticizes the Republican Party for pushing legislation to "redefine" rape and force women to undergo transvaginal ultrasounds. The ad, released by MoveOn.org Political Action and funded via contributions from more than 12,000 of the group's members, is produced and directed Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner.” http://huff.to/R6UHK8

RACHEL: And a friend, per Us Weekly, “They have yet to marry -- or even reveal a wedding date -- but it appears that Jennifer Aniston and fiancé Justin Theroux are already in the honeymoon phase! On Saturday, the blissed-out couple had a very romantic night out at the celeb-fave spot Chateau Marmont in Hollywood, where Aniston, 43, and her Wanderlust costar, 41, hung out at a private, tucked-away table in the garden area, an onlooker told Us Weekly.” http://usm.ag/SY5y6V

ROLLING STONES: You’re looking live. . ., per the AP, “The legendary band said Monday it would return to the stage this year with four concerts in Britain and the United States. The shows will take place on Nov. 25 and 29 at London's O2 Arena, followed by gigs on Dec. 13 and 15 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, just outside of New York.” http://apne.ws/QnCc41

THE BOSS: A helping hand, per Rolling Stone, “With a little over three weeks to go in the election and the polls dramatically tightening, Bruce Springsteen has decided to hit the campaign trail in support of President Barack Obama. Springsteen will campaign alongside Bill Clinton at a campaign rally in Parma, Ohio on Thusday, October 18th. That same day, he'll appear at another event in Ames, Iowa.” http://bit.ly/R0SuBw

SNL SLAYS: Finally, per Entertainment Weekly, “Christina Applegate resuscitated a flatlining season of Saturday Night Live with her brilliant song and dance numbers this weekend. The Up All Night actress last graced the SNL stage 19 years ago in her Kelly Bundy days, but looked right at home last night. She seemed to be over-selling herself during a few sketches, especially those that involved speaking in accent, but redeemed herself with song. And unlike last week’s dull treatment of the first presidential debate, the gang had a field day with last Thursday’s vice presidential debate.” http://bit.ly/RLAVTP

GOOD READ: Of an American icon, per the Los Angeles Times, “Cicely Tyson has refused to compromise during nearly six decades in film, turning down roles she thought were two-dimensional, stereotypical depictions of African American women. When she turned down one such role, and a well-paying one, she says she was told, "It was a foolish thing to do." http://lat.ms/PxwP5d

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video. http://bit.ly/R6KRrA
