Arlington National Cemetery ceremony, march honors fallen military women
ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - More than 1,000 female service members are gathering for a commemoration and candlelight march to honor military service women at Arlington National Cemetery.
Organizers say the ceremony begins Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial to mark its 15th anniversary. Every five years, they gather at the memorial to honor those who served.
There will be a candlelight march to honor service women who have died in military conflicts over the past five years. The group will march from the Lincoln Memorial across the Memorial Bridge to the women's memorial at Arlington. The march begins at 6:45 p.m.
Organizers say 53 fallen female soldiers will be honored during a ceremony at the memorial at the end of the march.
