WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities have retrieved the body of adult male from the Anacostia River near the 11th Street Bridge in Washington.
Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police department spokesman, says a bystander saw the body about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday and notified authorities.
Alali says the body was found near the river's southeast shoreline.
He says the body had been in the body for a long time, but it was not clear exactly how long.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
