Capital Crescent Trail: Boy assaulted by juveniles
Six juveniles assaulted a boy in the Capital Crescent Trail tunnel in Montgomery County during an attempted robbery, according to Bethesda Patch.
The boy was assaulted around 8 p.m. Saturday in the tunnel, located underneath Wisconsin Avenue.
The incident marks the second time in less than three months someone has been assaulted in the tunnel, sparking fears among those who use the popular trail.
In July, two people were assaulted at the tunnel during robbery attempts.
"It is an upscale area, but I guess there is no getting away from this," resident Chad Haddock said.
Police add the group of teens in Saturday's attack were violent. The victim was beaten so badly he had to be hospitalized.
No one ABC7 spoke with wants to see the tunnel closed off. It's a popular section of the Capital Crescent Trail and a cut through for people to get to downtown Bethesda.
Police ask those who walk in the area to remain vigilant when using the trail.
