October 25, 2012 - 10:18 am
A single-car crash in Northwest quickly escalated early Thursday morning after the driver ran from police, leading them to the Russian Embassy, where he was arrested by Russian authorities.
D.C. Police spokesperson Anthony Clay said the crash happened in the 3900 block of Massachusetts Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
Clay says the driver fled the scene on foot, leading officers to the Russian Embassy, where he jumped the fence. The man was apprehended by Russian authorities, police said.
He was later turned over to D.C. police, and charged with unlawful entry and leaving after colliding.
The suspect’s identity has not been released.
