D.C. parking restrictions lifted for Columbus Day
October 8, 2012 - 05:30 am
WASHINGTON (AP) - Columbus Day means free street parking in the District of Columbia.
The Department of Public Works says it won't be ticketing drivers Monday for expired meters or exceeding the time limit in residential zones.
Street sweeping will be suspended, so drivers won't need to move their cars. Trash pickup will also be suspended because of the holiday.
Trash collection will slide to the next day for all residents, regardless of whether Monday is the regularly scheduled pickup day.
