Pro-George Allen superpac gets cash infusion
Correction:
Earlier, this story incorrectly stated that George Allen's campaign received the donation.
A pro-George Allen superpac is getting quite the cash infusion from a Texas businessman known for his conservative politics.
With Allen's Democratic opponent Tim Kaine holding a slight lead in most polls, Texas businessman Bob Perry has kicked in a cool $1 million to Independence Virginia PAC, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Here's the skinny, per the T-D:
"The billionaire contributed heavily to George W. Bush's election efforts and was one of the chief donors for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the political group that attacked Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's military record during the 2004 election.
"In four $250,000 donations from July to August, Perry contributed $1 million to the pro-Allen Independence Virginia PAC, according to a report filed with the Federal Elections Commission." http://bit.ly/SZzek1
