New York Stock Exchange to reopen Wednesday
October 29, 2012 - 05:31 am
NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Stock Exchange will reopen Wednesday after being closed for two days due to Hurricane Sandy.
The exchange operators said they made the call to lose the markets after consulting with each other, regulators and government officials Sunday. They cited concerns about the market's ability to function without disruption and the safety of people who work there.
NASDAQ also shut down the NASDAQ Stock Market and other U.S. Exchanges and markets that it owns. Its exchanges outside the U.S. operated as scheduled.
