Northwest house fire leaves one dead
A man has died after he called 911 to report that he had set himself on fire with an oxygen tank, officials said.
Authorities say firefighters responded to a house fire in the 400 block of Newton Place, NW early Thursday morning. Upon arrival, crews found an unconscious man on the second floor of the home. Officials say firefighters performed CPR on the victim, who was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died.
Officials say the "small" fire was extinguished.
The victim's identity has not been released.
Officials say they believe the victim lived at the home with other people, who were not home at the time of the fire.
The investigation is ongoing.
