“Mother nature hit us. Hit us a couple times pretty hard but Ocean City knows how to bounce back,” says Joe Hall Ocean City Councilman.

For some, it won't be that easy. The Ocean City fishing pier is half gone. It was washed away by waves that broke over its deck.

Along the boardwalk, at first glance, it seems washed up sand is the only problem. But the businesses which operate a step down from the walkway took a hit. At the old Phillips Beach Plaza, surf came crashing through a now boarded up window. The famous Kelly's Sandbar is also a soggy sand filled shambles.

“Not even 90 days ago this place was up and open for business and doing great now just up and down the whole boardwalk its crazy,” says Maryland resident Shelton Berlin.

On the bay side of town, there is flooding damage for more than 60 blocks. At a trailer park and 52nd Street, a boat floated free for several blocks but missed all the trailers. Downtown, Wayne Hartman's apartment building was not spared. Like a lot of people he has work to do.

“This is the worst I've dealt with,” he says. “I was worried in years past this year I knew we were gonna have problems it was looking like we were doomed. I feel fortunate. I guess with what new jersey has I guess we were lucky. People live here a long time say this was the worst since ‘62.”
