The Avalon Pier, an Outer Banks (N.C.) fixture since the 1950s, is in danger of falling into the sea, and parts of it already have.
The main building leading to the pier remains intact but not so for much of the actual pier.
Here are details and a video link from Norfolk's WAVY-TV 10:
"KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) - The Avalon Fishing Pier in Kill Devil Hills, N.C. was damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
"Video of the pier Monday shows structural damage to the pier and missing railings. There are two breaches in the pier." http://bit.ly/XKXQTD
