American voters who consider themselves religiously unaffiliated tend to lean heavily toward President Barack Obama, a new poll is showing.

The poll, released by the Public Religion Research Institute, found that while the religiously unaffiliated lean more towards Obama, they are also less likely to turn out to vote. Around 25 percent of likely Obama supporters say they do not affiliate themselves with any particular religion, the Washington Post reported, according to the poll.

Sixty-one percent of unaffiliated Americans said they will vote, compared with 73 percent of Americans who are religiously affiliated, the Post said.
