Robert Jeter, Davon Watkins plead guilty to carjacking, armed robbery
Two Washington men pleaded guilty Friday to stealing a man's car and committing an armed robbery against another within a matter of hours last June.
Robert Jeter and Davon Watkins, both 18, approached a man around 10:30 p.m. June 21 as he was walking from his car in a parking lot behind the 1400 block of Irving Street NW. Watkins put a gun to the man's head while Jeter took his wallet and cell phone. Watkins then demanded the man's car keys and the two stole his car.
About six hours later, Jeter and Watkins approached a man on Mount Pleasant St. NW, knocked him to the ground, put guns to his head and took his wallet and cell phone.
About 15 minutes later police spotted the stolen car. Jeter and Watkins took off on foot and were later arrested in the 1100 block of Clifton St. NW.
Both Wakins and Jeter face a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years for the carjacking and additional time for the armed robbery. Sentencing is scheduled for January.
